Feeling the Pull

For some reason I am feeling the pull to do this again! I know, I know I have said this before and not followed through but I think this time I might really mean it! I am not even going back to see what/when I last posted I am just jumping in with a fresh start. Although, I do seem to recall that my very first post ever was a poop story or something along that line so I find it totally appropriate to have a fresh start with a puke story......
So, if you know me at all then you know I may hold the record for having the strongest gag reflex know to humans so anything that involves vomit is sure to send me over the edge. Therefore, this week has been a bit of a test for me. See the husband is off galavanting across our nation for "work" and this time I really mean "work" in the way that it came out. That leaves me here at home holding down the fort which is fine except for some reason the dog has puked 4...yep FOUR times this past week....no clue why but he has! Then last night the boys are playing together in the family room while I am on the phone with the husband hearing about the day spent with his Grandma in Illinois and I hear C crying...not the hurt kind of cry but that something is definitely wrong kind of cry and he turns the corner in the front room and he is all red, holding his stomach, and covered in the little styrofoam beans that are supposed to be INSIDE the bean bag! I get off the phone right away and head into the other room to find G standing in the midst of tiny beans, and next to a pile of puke with a deer caught in the headlights look on his face. Carsen, who inherited my social puker gene then starts gagging so I shuttle him into the bathroom and he proceeds to throw up. I then put on my Sherlock Holmes hat to find out what the BLEEP is going on!! Here's the whole truth.....
G talked C into unzipping the bean bag and putting his head in it and walking around while G "poofed" it around on C's head. C was laughing and therefore inhaled a couple of the 'beans' which then caused him to throw the bean bag off his head and puke all over the carpet! This is a scene that seriously could have come straight out of Calvin and Hobbes and caused me to say "WHY ME!!!"
(I do have to admit that last night I did not find this as humorous as I do this morning! )

Inspiration

It's a new year and I want to write on here....I have been wanting to for a long time but am in need some inspiration....hopefully, I will find it soon! I did see this on a friends facebook page and it struck a chord so I am stealing it!

Life is too short to wake up with regrets. ♥ So love the people who treat you right. ♥ Forget about the one's who don't!!!! Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance ... grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it....

Quote from Shorty...

C while trying to get dressed quickly today put his head through the arm hole, spun around a couple times and then says,
"Mom, this shirt is for a one armed dude!!!"

Fast Paced Summer!!

May...MAY was the last time I blogged?? Where has the time gone? Well...I sort of know where the time has gone I just can't believe it has gone so quickly! The boys got out of school and we promptly loaded up the family mobile and headed out. We made a quick stop in Boise to visit with Wes (who is living there for 6 months) then on to Colorado so I could drop off the rugrats with my sister so Wes and I could go to San Antonio for a week. We attended a conference where I got to learn that I should never be the first to arrive at a party or the last to leave, and always hold your drink in your left hand......I fail miserably at both of these! Never first one there but usually one of the last out the door!! Anyway, then I returned to CO for a few days then back to Boise for the 4th & Griffen's 11th birthday!! Returned to Oregon just in time to unpack, repack, shop for food and head out for a week camping trip with friends. So far this summer I have spent 2 1/2 weeks at home. I am a little behind in everything to say the least! We have 2 more trips coming in the next 3 weeks so the fast pace will continue. But we are having fun though so thats all that counts!

Four kid's and 4 dogs (one a puppy) for the weekend...I am tired but wanted to pass this one on...
On the way to church this morning Carsen asked me...

"What does it mean when you get BATH WASHED?"

Ummm...do you mean BAPTIZED??

Challenge...

So Monday of this week I started a fitness challenge with a friend of mine. She created it and I just have to follow it cardio, weights, etc..... Sounds great! Here's the drawback......she comes to my house at 5 a.m. Monday-Friday to start the day with a brisk 3 1/2 mile morning walk while carrying weights. For those of you who know me I am not even remotely a morning person....but I told her I would do this as long as she does not mind that I am grouchy! So we began on Monday and getting up at 4:50 a.m. kicked my butt! (yes I sleep in workout clothes in order to sleep in as much as possible!) (oh and BTW...Wes is gone so nobody cares what I am sleeping in!) Anyway, I ended up taking 2 naps that day, out of absolute neccesity! But, as much as I am surprised to admit it today is day 3 of doing this and I don't feel like I was hit by a truck. I don't think that I will ever be a morning person but I have to admit I like knowing that even if I did nothing else today I did walk 3-1/2 miles before anyone else in my house was even out of bed!

Running G

I have a runner on my hands!! I am very proud of G as he has now run 2 ~ 5K races. He has finished in approx. 34 minutes each time. He had decided that he did not want to take a spring sport that was offered so we are just signing him up for races. Wes has been running with him so that is good because I am not sure I could keep up with him. He already told me that I am slow! I will be in need of someone to run the next 5K with him in a few weeks as Wes will be gone for the month starting the first week in May and the next race is May 9th! Any takers???

Blogging Sabatical

I have been on a blog sabbatical...I think...or as Karen said I have needed a swat team to come in for the rescue!! ACTUALLY..I needed saving from playing Word Play on FB in my free time. Seriously, I have been in a bit of a competition with a couple of people on there. It is so bad that I have had to not play in the evenings because I can't go to sleep because of the 3 and 4 letter words flying though my head! I have been so bad that I have not even read blogs let alone write on mine!!

We had some good stuff happen this past month eerrr...2 months! Griffen completed cub scouts and earned his Arrow of light badge. That was pretty cool. He also is at the end of his second season on basketball and in the first season he got the award for the most improved player!

Carsen finished up hockey and is now signed up for baseball. He can't wait to get started on that! I am also so excited to begin going to games and practice in the freezing snow/rain/wind! (Yes~run that last line through your head dripping in sarcasm!)

We just got back from a Spring Break trip that I will post pics and stories about in a separate post...i promise!

I do have a favorite quote from each boy from this past 2 months....

Griffen: "Mom what year were you born?"
Me: "In the 70's"
G: When was dad born?"
Me: "In the 60's."
G: "So that means that Dad was a hippie and you had disco ball hair?"
**************************************************************
I had made popcorn one night while we were on vacation and Carsen threw Griffen's blanket down on the floor and a small kernel of it flew out from the blanket and Carsen yells...
"Look blankie just lost his first tooth!!"

Onion Rings

Tonight we were out to dinner and I had ordered onion rings. As soon as my plate was sat down Carsen say's "Hey, can I have an onion ring?" I am a little surprised but of course I say yes and hand him one. He takes a bite and says. "eeewwww, what is that???" I tell him, "Well, it's an onion." He says......

"So, that's why they call them ONION rings!!"

Pajamas on the Outside

OK seriously, what is with the pajama pants??? I know that for a long time the high school age kids would wear them sometimes but then the schools made that "unacceptable attire" and I have not seen too much of it since. Unless you count "Pee your pants guy" that wanders around town and wears his on occasion. But lately, every time I go anywhere I see someone in pajama pants. The kind that leave no doubt that they are PJ's. Like fuzzy tweedy bird ones....on a woman who is at least in her late 30's. The strangest thing is everything else seems to be normal with them. They don't appear to have just gotten out of their sickbed and had to go to the store to retrieve medicine. They are typically dressed normally from the waist up. Most even have make up on and have done something with their hair. So, what exactly is it?? I mean I know that it's nice to be comfortable and I fully admit that there are days that I wear black yoga pants when I have not been doing yoga but never....ever....even on my deathbed am I going to wear MUPPET FUR, TWEEDY BIRD pants out of my house...or even in my house for that matter!

It's all coming back to me now....

Totally did this one in my head...even had to go and check that I did not previously post this!

It was about 2 weeks ago and I get a phone call from G's school saying that he had an accident on the playground and is dizzy and I should come down there. So I arrive approx. 10 mins later at his school and go straight into the office to find G in there with an icepack on his head, the school secretary, the recess attendant, and 2 little girls looking at him. My first question was "what happened?" G replies, "I ran into the tetherball poll." I could not help myself....I laughed..right up until the recess attendant who witnessed the whole thing gave me an admonishing look and says it knocked him off his feet!

I then decide to just take him home as he has a very large goose egg on the left side of his forehead, his jaw on the same side hurts and also his knee. We go out to the car and I say "Geez Griffen it sounds like if someone had been shooting some video we might have been $10,000 winners"..(because pain is funny right?) He informed me that it was not funny at all! Which I knew that give it a few days when the pain subsided surely he would find the humor.

Well, I was correct it took about 5 days and we are sitting at dinner and he bumps the spot that is still sore on his head and the laughs a little. I ask him whats funny and he NOW thinks its funny that he ran smack dab into a pole. That was all I was waiting for. The laughter that I had swallowed back and held onto until he was ready unleashed and all of us cracked up laughing for what felt like 10 minutes long. You know that great kind of laugh where you snort, almost pee your pants, double over, can't breathe, stomach hurts! It was that kind. I love that laugh!

Small Town Foot In Mouth

Ummm...as you know I live in a pretty small town. Approx. 20 thousand in the city limits, 40 combined city and county. It is much bigger then the town I grew up in with a populations of about 1000 but it is definitely small enough to do this....

I had to take G to the Dr. last week~thought it was possibly strep but tested negative~so we were called into the room and the physicians assistant comes in and I know that her husband works on base and I know the last name and she recognizes me and says "We have met before right?" I say, "Yes, your names M*****." She says uumm no...that's my husband EX WIFES name.

cricket....cricket....cricket.....

Oh umm.. I'm sorry see I actually knew that.....kind of knew the whole story because as small as this town is the base is smaller and is pretty much like Peyton Place...I was just the idiot who blurted out the wrong name! Nice huh!

Floundering!

Do you ever feel like you are off your game? Out of sorts? Not living up to expectations? I just reread the last couple of post and then went and read some from '06 and '07 and I like the old ones much better! Do all of you bloggers who read this ever feel the same way? I was actually serious about the posts that I have composed in my head this past month that never made it on here...they really seem great so I will now promise to you my few and faithful readers that I will make every effort to get them typed up and in here...don't give up on me yet!!

So, So, Much.....

I have composed many, many posts in my head while driving, waking in the middle of the night, in the shower, making dinner etc.... but somehow they have not made it to this page so here are a few highlights that I can remember even though the ones in my head at the time were probably much, much better!!

It's been a weird month...it seems like we have been busy but then I have also made it a point to not be overbooked. So that has left us with doing activities that are required but also a lot of just hanging around. I guess that is why it seems like it has been a long month.

Griffen has returned to basketball and although he really likes it he still needs lots of practice. His team played another team a couple Saturday's ago and by half-time (they don't keep score only baskets made) the other team had over 20 baskets to our teams 4....they were literally schooled! Even without a score on the board the whole team knew they had just attended a clinic.

Carsen is back in hockey and we have some good talks during the 25 minute drive out to the rink. One of them was inauguration day and he was talking about how he saw the 2 girls walking down the steps and how he would like to do that someday...then it morphed into how he wants to be President when he grows up so I tell him that if he wanted he could be someday and how being President is a lot of responsibility but that he could do it. So then he says, "Well maybe Dad could be President and I will just decorate the white house." ~Don't ask me I have no clue where that one came from.....

This past Tuesday as were were making the same trek out there we were listening to a book on cd and in the story the guy slips on the icy driveway and smacks his head and cuts it open. Nothing serious or graphic but Carsen being my kid ended up having to have me pull over so he could "almost" puke on the side of the road. Then he was going to refuse to get back into the car even though we were in sight of the rink and I told him that we would just go to the ice rink and he could walk around a little that he would feel better...(now mind you at this time I had not put together that the story had bothered him. I thought he was just a little car sick.) So FINALLY he gets into the car we get to the rink and he decides that he can skate so I tell him there is NO throwing up on the ice. If he thinks he is going to get sick he is to immediately get off the ice...etc...so we get him geared up and he goes out there and does not even take the water break he is having so much fun. Then at the end of practice we are walking to the car and he says..."Hey Mom, I didn't throw up, not even a little in my mouth."

Here's one for the books...

Today after both boys were home from school and downstairs while I was upstairs folding laundry Carsen comes up and so frustrated says to me. "Griffen says that pissed off is a bad word." I look at him surprised and say "It is a bad word. Who said it?" he replies. "I did, I told Griffen that I was pissed off at him." then he breaks down crying and says.."I just didn't know it was a bad word." We did have a little talk about the fact that it was a bad word and he was not allowed to say it but he was more upset in just finding out that he had uttered a bad word without knowing it.

Quote of the week

I was driving to meet up with a friend for lunch and we passed a park that we frequently go to in the summer and Carsen from the back seat says...

"Those were the good days."
I ask him what he means and he says:
"You know the good days when we used to go to the park with Kobe and Kaden." "Those were some great days!"

I guess he is ready for some warm park weather again.

New Post for Karen!!

It's 2009...can you freakin believe that??? I did not make any resolutions. I figure that is just setting myself up for failure so why start the new year that way? How about you??

We did have a great Christmas break. I swear that G wore his pj pants almost the whole 2 weeks. We had beautiful white Christmas snow so we spent a lot of time out in it so his justification to not putting on "real" pants was.."my snow pants slip on easier over pajama pants" I figure he is probably right so I just let him go with it. I see multiple people wearing them about town anyway so maybe he is just in style right?

We did spend lots of time snowmobiling in the neighborhood....yes you read it correctly...we live in town and we got the snowmobiles out and tore up the neighborhood. Our good friends/neighbors that live around the corner got a 4 wheeler for Christmas so they were out with us too. The guys got on the snowboards and were pulled behind the sled and came up with a new sport that I think the dubbed "snurfing" It was pretty funny! And pretty redneck but hey it was too much fun to care what the other neighbors were thinking.

We also did lots of skating, movies, and plenty of Wii playing! It was a good break and hard to return to a normal schedule this past week but we did! So now we are back to hockey, basketball, cub scouts and school/work! When is Spring break??

Overheard sayings from random shoppers

Prior to Christmas just like everyone else I spent a lot of time and money around town in stores. On one of these trips as Wes and I walked by another couple here is what we heard....

"What if I put mistletoe in my pants?"

HHMMMM.......

One-Eighty-Out

So these two quotes come from Carsen and could not be much farther apart......

Number 1.
"How would you like it if I used the mean voice on you when you were late for school???"

Number 2.
"You always keep me warm.......with love."

One More Thing!

So, just found out that G will be having basketball practice the same nights as C is having hockey practice. So what this means is I have 30 minutes between practices to get C off the ice out of his equipment and in the car for the approx. 20 min. drive on good roads to the next location for G to be to practice on time. We will be doing this twice a week from now until I don't know when....FAAANTASTIC!
