Floundering!

Do you ever feel like you are off your game? Out of sorts? Not living up to expectations? I just reread the last couple of post and then went and read some from '06 and '07 and I like the old ones much better! Do all of you bloggers who read this ever feel the same way? I was actually serious about the posts that I have composed in my head this past month that never made it on here...they really seem great so I will now promise to you my few and faithful readers that I will make every effort to get them typed up and in here...don't give up on me yet!!

So, So, Much.....

I have composed many, many posts in my head while driving, waking in the middle of the night, in the shower, making dinner etc.... but somehow they have not made it to this page so here are a few highlights that I can remember even though the ones in my head at the time were probably much, much better!!

It's been a weird month...it seems like we have been busy but then I have also made it a point to not be overbooked. So that has left us with doing activities that are required but also a lot of just hanging around. I guess that is why it seems like it has been a long month.

Griffen has returned to basketball and although he really likes it he still needs lots of practice. His team played another team a couple Saturday's ago and by half-time (they don't keep score only baskets made) the other team had over 20 baskets to our teams 4....they were literally schooled! Even without a score on the board the whole team knew they had just attended a clinic.

Carsen is back in hockey and we have some good talks during the 25 minute drive out to the rink. One of them was inauguration day and he was talking about how he saw the 2 girls walking down the steps and how he would like to do that someday...then it morphed into how he wants to be President when he grows up so I tell him that if he wanted he could be someday and how being President is a lot of responsibility but that he could do it. So then he says, "Well maybe Dad could be President and I will just decorate the white house." ~Don't ask me I have no clue where that one came from.....

This past Tuesday as were were making the same trek out there we were listening to a book on cd and in the story the guy slips on the icy driveway and smacks his head and cuts it open. Nothing serious or graphic but Carsen being my kid ended up having to have me pull over so he could "almost" puke on the side of the road. Then he was going to refuse to get back into the car even though we were in sight of the rink and I told him that we would just go to the ice rink and he could walk around a little that he would feel better...(now mind you at this time I had not put together that the story had bothered him. I thought he was just a little car sick.) So FINALLY he gets into the car we get to the rink and he decides that he can skate so I tell him there is NO throwing up on the ice. If he thinks he is going to get sick he is to immediately get off the ice...etc...so we get him geared up and he goes out there and does not even take the water break he is having so much fun. Then at the end of practice we are walking to the car and he says..."Hey Mom, I didn't throw up, not even a little in my mouth."

Here's one for the books...

Today after both boys were home from school and downstairs while I was upstairs folding laundry Carsen comes up and so frustrated says to me. "Griffen says that pissed off is a bad word." I look at him surprised and say "It is a bad word. Who said it?" he replies. "I did, I told Griffen that I was pissed off at him." then he breaks down crying and says.."I just didn't know it was a bad word." We did have a little talk about the fact that it was a bad word and he was not allowed to say it but he was more upset in just finding out that he had uttered a bad word without knowing it.

Quote of the week

I was driving to meet up with a friend for lunch and we passed a park that we frequently go to in the summer and Carsen from the back seat says...

"Those were the good days."
I ask him what he means and he says:
"You know the good days when we used to go to the park with Kobe and Kaden." "Those were some great days!"

I guess he is ready for some warm park weather again.

New Post for Karen!!

It's 2009...can you freakin believe that??? I did not make any resolutions. I figure that is just setting myself up for failure so why start the new year that way? How about you??

We did have a great Christmas break. I swear that G wore his pj pants almost the whole 2 weeks. We had beautiful white Christmas snow so we spent a lot of time out in it so his justification to not putting on "real" pants was.."my snow pants slip on easier over pajama pants" I figure he is probably right so I just let him go with it. I see multiple people wearing them about town anyway so maybe he is just in style right?

We did spend lots of time snowmobiling in the neighborhood....yes you read it correctly...we live in town and we got the snowmobiles out and tore up the neighborhood. Our good friends/neighbors that live around the corner got a 4 wheeler for Christmas so they were out with us too. The guys got on the snowboards and were pulled behind the sled and came up with a new sport that I think the dubbed "snurfing" It was pretty funny! And pretty redneck but hey it was too much fun to care what the other neighbors were thinking.

We also did lots of skating, movies, and plenty of Wii playing! It was a good break and hard to return to a normal schedule this past week but we did! So now we are back to hockey, basketball, cub scouts and school/work! When is Spring break??
